Korean BBQ Beef Rib
  • 2 pounds thinly sliced boneless rib meat (you can also use thinly sliced beef rib eye or spencer )
  • 1/4 finely chopped onion (you can also use Asian pear)
  • 1 whole garlic head minced
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon sesame seeds
  1. Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, sesame seeds, garlic, onion, salt and pepper in a bowl. Add rib meat and mix them well. Transfer marinated beef and sauce into a sealable plastic bag squeezing out any excess air from the bag. Refrigerate marinated beef for 1 to 2 hours before cooking. The longer you marinate the meat, it is tastier.
  2. Preheat BBQ grill or grill pan over medium heat. Grill the beef, turning occasionally, 10 to 15 minutes or until fully cooked. Serve the beef with Lentil rice and salad with Anne’s oriental dressing.
Lentil rice
2 Cups rice
1 Cup lentils
3 1/2 Cups water
  1. Rinse rice and lentils thoroughly (5 times) and drain all water.
  2. Put them in the electronic rice cooker or small pot and add 3 1/2 cups of drinking water.
  3. Electronic rice cooker has automatic timer for cooking. For cooking in the pot, bring the rice to boil. As soon as it boils, immediately lower the temperature to low and simmer for 25 minutes or until cooked.
Makes 4 servings.
*Storing tip: You can store cooked rice in a small plastic bag flattened, squeezing out air and freeze in the refrigerator. When you want to eat the rice, simply take it out from plastic bag and place it in the dish or small bowl adding 1 tablespoon water. Cover and heat it up in microwave oven for 4 minutes. The rice will taste like freshly cooked.
Anne’s oriental dressing
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon olive oil or canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sweet basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Mix them well until sugar is completely dissolved and spread over your green salad (prefer spring mix) and serve.
